Chromie Cube
I projected moving color onto a white 3D print of HanRGB's CryptoCube #13. Chromie Cube is the film of that object.

Light on a real object
I placed the white cube in a dark room and lined up the projected gradient face by face. I used software I had made for mapping colored polygons onto physical objects. My good friend Peter Molick came over to film it for me. I couldn't have done this without him.
Projection was already part of my practice before Art Blocks. Working with Han's cube let me return to it with a form another artist had made. The light changes as it moves over the actual surfaces, and the camera records that.

The translucent experiments
The artwork was filmed from a physical 3D print under projected light. I tried a few different printing formats, including two translucent versions. I thought they were cool, but they didn't quite capture what I wanted. The final version used a sandstone-type 3D printing process and came out pure, sugary white.
